Anchor Distilling Company
Fritz Maytag established the Anchor Distilling Company in San Francisco in 1993. His goal was to use traditional distilling techniques and make very small batches of distilled spirits, which include gin, and three styles of whiskey. Since 2004, Anchor Distilling has won a total of 17 medals at the San Francisco World Spirits Competition, including Double Golds for Junipero Gin and Old Potrero Whiskey. The Hotaling's Rye whiskey has been aged for more than eleven years in once-used, charred oak whiskey barrels. Old Potrero 19th Century Straight Rye Whiskey is distilled in a small copper pot still from a mash of 100% rye malt. The 18th Century Old Potrero uses several uncharred oak barrels—both new and used—to achieve the balanced complexity that complements this whiskey's traditional heritage. Junipero Gin is made by hand in the classic "distilled dry gin" tradition, utilizing more than a dozen botanicals in their natural state, in a small copper pot still.
