Giovanni Avanzi Winery
The Avanzi family tradition dates back to 1931 when Mr. Giovanni Avanzi made an excellent red wine from grapes cultivated on the west shore of Lake Garda. The company grew with the purchase of the splendid 17th century estate in Manerba del Garda which would become the setting and the prestigious premises of the first quality red wines and "chiaretti". Tradition carried on in the 1960's with sons Gianpietro and Alessandro, who contributed enthusiastically to the development of the winery. Today, it is the founder's children and grandchildren who carry on with the inherited passion and tradition of Lake Garda wines, making Avanzi synonymous with history and prestige. The Avanzi family's land extends from the poetic Sirmione to the inland of Polpenazze del Garda. Four important vineyards - Bragagna, Montecorno, Valle and Predelli, along with olive groves scattered between San Felice del Benaco and Desenzano del Garda make up 76 hectares of land where the Avanzi family's passion and love for wine and olive oil take form.
