Founded at the end of 1987, Monzio Compagnoni is one of the few boutique producers of the luxurious DOCG Franciacorta in the Lombardy region. Although not one of the biggest producers, what it might lack in quantity, it surely makes up for in quality and prestige. In this day and age, where the majority of American sparkling wine consumers only think of Prosecco when it comes to Italian sparkling wine, Franciacorta's esteemed reputation in Northern Italy is now starting to be discovered with Monzio Compagnoni helping to lead the way. Since their inception, they have been accumulating various properties for their plantings and today oversee more than 20 hectares for their various fine wines. These properties have been chosen for their position, their soil and their various levels of altitude. Monzio Compagnoni bottled their first vintage sparkling Franciacorta in the spring of 1990 and today have a fine, balanced portfolio of wines indigenous to the mineral rich region of Franciacorta.
