Maison Sichel
A cosmopolitan family with a love of travel and new horizons, the Sichels settled all over Europe but came originally from Germany. Its first steps into the wine trade were in 1856, under the influence of Hermann Sichel, then aged 65, it opened a sales office in Bordeaux in 1883. Peter A. Sichel, from the British branch of the family, was at the head of the company for 31 years and became known throughout the world as one of Bordeaux's best ambassadors. Today, Peter's five sons, the sixth generation of Sichels to be involved in the company, carry on the family tradition, ensuring that the Maison Sichel is a family business, well-equipped to succeed in the modern wine world.
